The Pamela Wells Sheffield Award was established April 27, 1991 to honor, commemorate and perpetuate the memory and good works of Pamela Wells Sheffield. The selection of this Auburn Athletic Department and Auburn University award is coordinated by athletics.

Pamela Wells Sheffield was a 1965 graduate of Auburn. She married an Auburn man and she sent her children to Auburn. She was, by any definition, the consummate Auburn woman. Her love for Auburn went beyond affection. Her love was a commitment to Auburn and to its people, its students, staff, faculty and alumni. Auburn people were, and are, her people.
