Passage to Panama: Sailing

January 14-30, 2010

Passage to Panama: Sailing

Beginning with a stop in carefree Key West, Fla., the southernmost point in the continental United States, this voyage continues westward for two days at sea while you settle in to the joys of life onboard the 684-passenger Oceania m/s Regatta. Arriving in Cartagena, Colombia, you will be well-rested and ready for a fascinating walking tour of this historic colonial city and a shopping spree in the lovely Bocagrande district. Then, enjoy a leisurely transit of the Panama Canal, a marvel of engineering that was first envisioned by the Spanish in the early 1500s but not completed until more than 400 years later by the United States. Mexico dominates the second half of this voyage, as Regatta skirts along that country’s radiant western shore. The resort city of Huatulco revolves around the water, offering unspoiled beaches and fabulous snorkeling. As a wonderful contrast, Acapulco exudes an invigorating cosmopolitan energy but still boasts seaside attractions such as its iconic cliff divers.
